What is Burl?

Burl are unique formations found on trees often under stress from hard winters, water flows or mineral depletion. The Burl has become highly prized for their intricate patterns and rich colors. These unique patterns make each piece of burl wood distinct, and the natural variations ensure that no two pieces are identical. Cherry burl is one of the most beautiful of all burls.

I'm a Burl Hunter

I seek it out - primarily in the Northeastern US. I mill it, dry it, and stabilize it. The unique pits and void are filled with dark epoxy resin and the surface is finished to a perfectly smooth satin finish. This unique design celebrates the beauty of wood. Making each piece a one-of-a-kind creation.
